Direct Access Scheme (DAS)

Colchester Kawasaki Training School

You will usually spend your first module of motorcycle training with us on a 125cc motorbike and progress towards the bigger bikes as you gain experience. Our brand new DAS bikes are Kawasaki Z650 motorcycles, an ideal training bike.

Our modules are designed to deliver a varied, well rounded, thorough and interesting training experience. You will progress according to your ability and confidence, incorporating a wide variety of lesson modules from classroom theory sessions, to Module 1 test training and Module 2 test road riding on a variety of roads and locations.

It goes without saying that our modular motorcycle training courses are structured around each student individually, to reflect any previous experience and/or special considerations you may need.

If you are training for your A licence you will be on a minimum of a 600cc motorcycle, for an A2 licence you will also be riding a minimum of 600cc motorcycle but restricted to 35kw (equivalent to 47bhp). If you are training for your A1 licence you will remain on a 125cc machine.

This day also includes 2 road rides, where you have a chance to familiarize yourself with the new bike on the road, building on the previous day’s training.

Day 3: DAS2 – Module 1 test day

During this day you will study and practice:

  • Dual carriageways
  • Major roundabouts
  • Major A roads

During this day, you will be taken to the nearest Module 1 test centre to complete your Module 1 test, which normally takes half an hour. Your module 2 training is underway at this point, focusing more stringently on your test standard procedures and ironing out any issues.

  • Test routes
  • Major Junctions
  • Dual Carriageways
  • Multiple speed limit changes
